GUINESS WORLD RECORD FOR CEBU!

It can now be finally said with utmost confidence and unrivaled authority that Cebu is the “Dancesport Capital of the World.”

This developed after the Guinness World Records confirmed, authenticated and made official Cebu's entry into the prestigious record book as having the “World's Largest Dance Class” with the event held last June 27 and organized by the Dancesport-Team Cebu City (DTCC).

During that event, a total of 7,770 people converged at the Cebu City Sports Center for a dancesport class. The previous record of 2,289 was held by the city of Budapest in Hungary in their event held last May 23 at the Életfa-Hosök tornája.

The record was confirmed in an e-mail that was sent to officials of the DTCC by Guiness World Records organization’s Kaoru Ishikawa.

“We are pleased to confirm that you have set the new Guinness World Record for 'Largest dance class' and a certificate to commemorate has been sent by post. Details of your achievement have been entered into our records as follows: The Largest dance class is achieved by 7,770 participants in an event organised by DanceSport Team Cebu International Inc. at the Cebu City Sports Centre, in Cebu City, Philippines, on 27 June 2009,” said Ishikawa.
