SIXTEEN scholars from the University of Cebu were selected for the “Earn As You Learn” program in partnership with IBM Philippines. The scholars were presented in ceremonies attended by Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, who lauded the school and the program for benefitting students by ensuring their employment in the technology sector.
“We are witnessing a turning point in the development of our youth. A direct linkage between academe and private sector... we need more of these partnerships,” Osmeña said. “It's like we are planting a new seed for the future development of our city.” The outgoing mayor said the development of Cebu's labor force remains key to the city's development.
