CLEAN-UP THE WORLD ORGANIZATION LAUNCHED GLOBAL ACTIVITY REPORT

In support of World Environment Day (WED) 2010, Clean Up the World launched their global Activity Report, highlighting the reach of the campaign in the Philippines and around the world, and signifying the strength of partnerships in achieving positive impacts on the environment.

The report summaries the environmental achievements of its global participants such as CESDEV-Nursing in 2009, and recognises the importance of partners in achieving the Clean Up the World mission to “clean up, fix up and conserve our environment”.

“World Environment Day is about advocating partnerships and this report demonstrates that the best environmental results come through building strong alliances. We partner with the United Nations Environment Programme on a global level and communities and organisations at a local level to protect the environment for current and future generations,” said Ian Kiernan AO*, Chairman and Founder of Clean Up the World.

The Clean Up the World campaign is a year-round operation with a celebratory weekend held each September. Last year over 800 organisations around the world including the Community Extension Service and Developemnt of the College of Nursing of University of Cebu-Banilad, mobilising an estimated 35 million volunteers in 124 countries, took part - the highest participation in the campaign’s history.

Clean Up the World Weekend will be held on 17 – 19 September 2010. In support of the United Nation’s 2010 International Year of Biodiversity, Clean Up the World is encouraging its participants across the globe to conduct environmental activities with a focus on protecting biodiversity in their communities.
