THE DANCE ... THE PRAYER ... THE CELEBRATION

Men and women from all walks of life, some bringing their children and household images of the Sto. Niño, joined the foot procession, praying the rosary along the way.

Cebu's biggest religious celebration tells the story of each Cebuano's hope, faith and sufferings, said Msgr. Cristobal Garcia of the Archdiocesan Commission on Worship chairman.

He described a woman he saw dancing when the Sto. Niño image arrived.

“An old woman was dancing to her own rhythm in a puddle of water. She was bringing with he a Sto. Niño that was about two feet tall. We do not really know the story behind her dance or what sufferings she must be going through. What is the story behind her step? Indeed, the Sto. Niño celebration is the celebration of the human story,” he said.
