In keeping with its organizational objectives, the Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing (ADCPN) will convene today and tomorrow (May 21 and May 22) for a two-day Summer Conference at the historic landmark Manila Hotel.
The conference aims to enable the participating nursing education officials to effectively and efficiently implement the Enriched Bachelor of Science in Nursing Curriculum for the Academic Year 2009-2010 and further the core competencies of prospective nurses, especially in the care of mothers in labor and delivery, the immediate care of the newborn, and intra-operative care.
The two-day workshop starts with the road map labeled as the Philippine Education Highway, whose goal is to further the standards of nursing education so that the credentials of future nurses will be recognized in other countries. There will be a presentation of the Enriched Bachelor of Science in Nursing Curriculum that was covered by an earlier memorandum from the Commission on Higher Education and is to take effect by the start of the incoming academic year. This will be followed by an interactive discussion between the members of the Board of Nursing and the participating deans.
The second day of the workshop will be devoted to discussing the future directions of the Association and concurrent sessions on teaching strategies on health assessment and the theoretical foundations of nursing.
