THERE won’t be classes on Monday, February 23, 2009 in all levels nationwide as part of the observance of the 23rd anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution. President Arroyo declared Monday a special holiday for both public and private schools, the Office of the Press Secretary announced yesterday.
The next day, February 24, 2009 is a special holiday in Cebu City to commemorate Charter Day. The declaration of Monday as a special holiday for schools is contained in Proclamation 1728, which was announced yesterday by Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita. Ermita signed the order in behalf of President Arroyo. The order said the declaration of a holiday is meant to give people time to observe a historic event that “restored and ushered political, social and economic reforms in the country.” (OPS)
