CEBU City Mayor Mike Rama yesterday appealed to patients with suspected dengue to go to health centers in their barangays first instead of going directly to hospitals to avoid overcrowding in hospitals.
Hospitals in Cebu City such as the Cebu City Medical Center are already congested with dengue patients following the surge of the mosquito-borne disease.
Rama said that health centers should serve their purpose of servicing grassroots communities.
In a phone interview with CDN, Rama said that some barangay health centers were clustered and have a medical technologist and a laboratory capable of monitoring the platelet counts of dengue patiens.
The total cases of dengue in Cebu City has reached 1,175 with 11 deaths.
