Amid the sadness of someone being stricken by a grave ailment comes this bit of good news—a community running together to help a colleague deal with the financial demand of battling cancer.
Yesterday, runners joined the Run for Bebe to raise funds for the treatment of the nasopharyngeal cancer of a Chong Hua Hospital nursing services official, a dedicated single mother of two children who had served the institution for 20 years. She faces a grueling treatment regimen of chemotherapy and her colleagues want to help by raising money to fund her medication.
The charity run was conceptualized by chief nurse Naoimi Fajardo and cardiologist and runner Alex Junia and organized by RunCheck. There were no cash prizes or even singlets. The charity run offered only personalized race bibs to the runners.
