Community Extension Services & Development
University of Cebu-Banilad College of Nursing!
The volunteers of the Community Extension Services and Development of the College of Nursing of UC Banilad joined the Social Security Service (SSS) last December 7, 2007 for their Pensioners' Day held at the Trade Hall of SM City Cebu.
The student nurses volunteers of the Community Extension Services and Development (CESDEV) of the College of Nursing of University of Cebu-Banilad joined the Kapuso Serbisyo, Maagang Pamasko ng GMA at the Mabolo Elementary School.
The Kapuso jingle was continuously played during the duration of the Medical-Dental Mission of GMA7 television network dubbed as Kapuso Serbisyo. The patients were also provided with entertainment by Kapuso stars who graced the event making the whole Saturday afternoon atmosphere festive.
As a sidelight to the Serbisyo Kapuso, I am posting a clip of Lea Salonga's commercial for a toothpaste product that were also distributed during the Medical-Dental Mission of GMA7. Distribution was done by UC Nursing CESDEV volunteers who showed their sweetest smile as they gave away product samples. The droves of people were undoubtedly convinced. Who wouldn't be ... look at their smiles!
As you prepare for your Preliminary Examination which will be next week, don't forget to pray for God's guidance. Here's one prayer for you ...
Prayer Before an Exam
O wise God, I pray that my mind might be rested, my body energized, and my spirit inspired for the exam I must write. Grant me peace and assurance so that I might do the best I am able, regardless of what that might be.
Be with my fellow students and may I be a good example to them, offering reassurance and confidence regardless of how I feel.
May I be honest and insightful, and able to give a true record of what I have learned. In the end, may any disappointment be born with grace, and any joy accompanied with humility.
I write this exam with Thee, O Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Mabuhay, magkaroon ng pangalan at nasyonalidad
To live, to have a name and nationality
Magkaroon ng pamilyang magmamahal at kakalinga
To have a family who will love and care for me
Mamuhay sa isang tahimik at kaayaayang kapaligiran
To live in a peaceful community and wholesome environment
Magkaroon ng sapat na pagkain at malusog at masiglang pangangatawan
To have adequate food and a healthy and active body
Mabigyan ng magandang edukasyon at mapaunlad ang potensyal
To obtain a good education and develop my potential
Bigyan ng mga pagkakataon upang maglaro at maglibang
To be given opportunities for play and leisure
Proteksyon mula sa pang-aabuso, pagsasamantala, kapabayaan, karahasan, at panganib
To be protected against abuse, exploitation, neglect, violence and danger
Ipangtanggol at bigyan ng tulong ng pamahalaan
To be defended and given assistance by the government
Malayang magpahayag ng pananaw
To be able to express my own views
UC Nursing CESDEV raises its hat to Dr. Helen C. Estrella for ably handling the tasks as the Officer-in-Charge of University of Cebu-Banilad Campus. The position made her the point person of the campus holding the multiple responsibilities of the Academic Director while Dr. Ofelia Mana is on-leave, Campus Administrator with the transfer of Dr. Agapito Pino Jr. to the High School Department of UC Main, Human Resource Director with Mr. Artemio B. Cabahug's resignation, and foremost as Dean of the College of Nursing. Great feat Madam!
As the December group of Batch 2007 takes the Nurses Licensure Examination this December 1, and 2, 2007, we are sharing this prayer to our examinees. Let us also include them in our prayers as they hurdle this two-day examination. May they truly be guided and enlightened.
In this time of anxiety, O loving God, grant me peace of mind. Quiet any distress and allow me to see clearly my mission and discipleship.
I pray for my examiners as well as for myself, so that they might be wise in their questioning so that it will allow for a true accounting of my learning and understanding.
May the memory of my family and friends remind me of their support, regardless of outcome, united with them in the spirit of love.
May I be wise enough to gain enough rest so all might be ready, my thoughts organized, and my life dedicated to serve Thee whatever the cost, through the love of Jesus Christ, my Saviour. Amen.
